For the best experience we recommend using a laptop or desktop computer using the Chrome, Firefox, or Safari browser. Your event team will email you a link to the event ahead of the show date, which will open the event login page. Enter the information that is requested (either your email address or confirmation code) and you will be admitted to the event. It’s as simple as that! If you have any issues logging in, please contact your event team for technical support.
The video player is a standard video player similar to ones you have likely seen across the internet. You have your play and pause button. You can rewind the live event by clicking back on the timeline. Then you have a 30 second jump back button for quick rewinds. Next to that you have a gear icon which can be used to set your resolution settings. If your video looks a little blurry, you can try changing your resolution setting to HD. Or if your internet is being slow, you can reduce the resolution to make the video load faster. Then you have a standard full screen button which will fullscreen your video. Next to the fullscreen button is your audio control if you wanted to turn the video audio up or down. Lastly you might see a casting button. This will allow you to cast the video to a device that has a Chromecast or Apple Airplay setup. And that covers the video player! Very standard stuff you’ll see on any video player on the internet. As always, if you have any questions or technical issues, please contact your event support team.
You’ll need a laptop or computer with an HDMI port. A TV with an HDMI port. And of course, an HDMI cable.
First you’ll want to make sure both your laptop or computer and your television are turned on. Then take one end of your HDMI cable and plug it into the HDMI port of your laptop or computer. And then, you guessed it, take the other end of the HDMI cable and plug it into one of the HDMI ports on your television.
Quick troubleshooting tip! Make sure your television is set to the proper HDMI input by using the input button on your remote. If you don’t know how to do that, reference your television manual, ask a friend, or you can simply Google it!
Now that we have the HDMI cable plugged in on both ends, let’s make sure the display and audio settings are set properly on your laptop or computer. First I’m going to show you how to do so on an Apple device. To check your audio output, go to the top right area of your screen and click the speaker icon on your toolbar. In the dropdown menu, select your Television device. The output device name will usually contain the brand of your television. You can test the sound output is set to your TV by playing a video or playing music from your laptop or computer!
Now for your display settings, open your system preferences by clicking the apple icon in the top left corner of your screen. Look for the menu item titled “Displays.” Click on the Gather Windows button on the pop up menu. Then on the “Built-in Display” pop up, click on the tab labeled “Arrangement.” Then click on the check box labeled “Mirror Displays.” This will allow you to see the same thing on both your laptop screen and your television!
Now I didn’t forget about you Windows folks out there. If you’re on a windows laptop or computer, your sound settings can be found by clicking on the sound icon in the bottom right corner of your screen.
For your display settings, I’m going to show you a little shortcut. If you click the windows key and the letter p as in peter on your keyboard at the same time, a pop up window should appear from the right side of your screen. Here you can select how you want to display your screen. We recommend selecting the Duplicate option so your television displays the same thing as your laptop.
Once you’ve adjusted your settings, you should be hearing sound from your television and seeing an image on it as well! Now you’re ready to go full screen on your video and enjoy the VX experience. Remember, you can always contact your event team if you have any questions or technical issues. And Google is always your friend!
When you first log into a VX event, the chat window automatically appears to the right side of your screen. If you’d like to chat, just enter your name and join the conversation. That’s it! You’re ready to type your message and chat away with your fellow attendees.
We highly recommend that you don’t share the event link and your login. There are a limited amount of devices allowed to access the event under each login. By sharing your link and login, you are at risk of maxing out your devices and locking yourself out or causing login issues between you and the people you shared your login with.
Yes! Our platform is mobile and tablet friendly, though we do recommend a laptop or desktop computer for the best visual experience. Some events may require the use of your tablet or mobile device for certain interactions so keep a look out for event information to be best prepared.
While some viewers have had success accessing the event in this manner, TV Web Browsers are not officially supported at this tim. We currently only officially support for Chromecast, Apple AirPlay, or an old fashioned HDMI cable.
Please check with your event organizer to find out if your event will be available for replay and when the replay will expire. Though most events we do are available for a limited time after the live showing, this decision is left for the event organizer.
We highly recommend logging into the event ahead of the event date to confirm access to the watch page. There have been reports of VX Events being blocked by VPNs, Corporate devices, and Corporate firewalls. If your event is being blocked, try turning off your VPN, connecting to a different network, or contact your IT administrator to allow access to the event URL.
