– Webcasting (Part 1 of 7) –
Whether you call it Webcasting, Web Streaming, Live Streaming, or just Streaming, live video broadcast over the internet is increasingly essential in our world. And, with more people learning the ropes of working from home, live video boosts the productivity and impact of meetings, seminars, conferences, and even entertainment!
So, what exactly is webcasting, and how can you apply it to your business?
Gosh, we’re glad you asked!
Webcasting, or live streaming, happens when you film and broadcast an event as it happens.
Your viewers will get a real-time experience of the action, whether a star musician is performing, the CEO is sharing the state of the company, or your co-worker Kevin’s dog barks at the UPS driver.
When you stream something, you can determine the audience – whether a large scale broadcast open to the public, or a smaller meeting limited to your team.
Live streaming allows you to give company-wide presentations, connect seminars or conferences to a much larger audience, or bring together team members (and sometimes their 4-legged friends) for a productive meeting from the comfort of their home office.
Although over 5% of America’s workforce is now working remotely full time, 42% of Americans work from home at least some of the time. And with recent worldwide events, it’s safe to estimate that this number has nearly doubled, at least for the short term.
If your company is new to handling meetings remotely, webcasting is the best of both worlds. You can meet with your team, connect with your board over socially distant coffee, or give a paper on your latest research.
Maybe you’ve been doing video meetings for years and are a pro at doing the broadcasting itself, but you’re accustomed to having a technical team at your disposal. Now that everyone is working remotely, you could use some help figuring it all out and making sure your team is ready to roll.
Or maybe you’ve never done a live video broadcast of any kind and feel like a fish out of water, not sure if you have the right equipment or where to start.
If your furry friend is your new IT guru, then you’ve come to the right place.
We’re the live stream experts, offering managed virtual meetings, remote webcasts, and studio webcasts to our clients.
And, because we want to help you get back to business and master the tech you’ve been missing out on, we are launching a series of blog posts to demystify the world of live video.
We’ll give you the tools to stop worrying about the technical side of things so that you can get back to your business. The end result? Another powerful communications tool for your arsenal, and more time to catch up on emails or stretch out in the hammock. (No judgment here.)
Over the next few weeks, we’re giving you everything you need to know to get started with webcasting. We’ll cover:
